What Not To Wear (PB edition)

So last night, the other interns and I went out to investigate an area know as Pacific Beach. It is known to have a younger crowd than other neighborhoods around San Diego and as this was my first time up there, I was expecting to fit right in w/ the rest of the college kids. Didn't happen. Nobody told me about the apparent dress code that exists in this little alcove of San Diego. So allow me to enlighten others as to not make the same mistake I did.

MEN:
- Flannel shirt
- Jeans
- Flip-flops

Flannel shirts are the MUST HAVE of the November season. It says "It's Autumn, but we're still in San Diego, so not really." And the only proper way to wear it is w/ the top two buttons undone and no undershirt of any kind. This apparently is how to get all the ladies.

Now women, we at least have options.

WOMEN:
- Outfit 1: Tight dress w/ heels
- Outfit 2: Tight jeans and tight top w/ heels
- Blonde hair is a MUST
- Lots of black eye make-up

My brown curly locks were not prepared for the bombardment of the bleached beach blondes. Maybe I'll just buy a wig next time I go up there to avoid the "Where are you from, stranger?" question.

One more thing, and this applies to both guys and gals.

ACCESSORIES:
- Bike

Yes, this is essential to any attire. Even in that little, tight skirt. There's no excuse, bikes are still rideable. You just have to need a little more grace and be thoughtful about coat placement.

So next time you're in the PB area, make sure you follow these simple rules and you'll be sure to blend in with the locals.
